Benefits and Employer Costs Grow Faster than Wages for the First Time Since 1992-1993

A National Academy of Social Insurance survey found workers' compensation benefits and employer costs in 2001 grew faster than wages for the first time since 1992-1993. The result is attributable to the combination of the slowdown in the economy and insurers' rising premiums on the ten year insurance cycle. However, benefits grew slower than wages in Pennsylvania.
